Reports to: Manager - Software Development and Integration
Role Description:
The contractor will primarily assist our DBA in Database development activities and contribute to helping the development team with the tasks of building Service Connect workflows as well as debugging, building .NET components / class libraries. Occasionally, the role will assist with troubleshooting ASP and ASP.NET intranet websites.
Qualifications:
· Solid Work experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft.NET programming:
Ä A good understanding of the .NET namespace and object structure.
Ä Excellent understanding of ASP.NET(Different forms design methodologies, Optimal design and coding practices, events, delegates)
Ä A good understanding of .NET Net Data Access Layer( ADO.NET, Data Binding, Knowledge of newer techniques like LINQ, XML Data manipulations)
Ä Excellent understanding of and experience with .NET XML Web Service / WCF implementation and techniques.
Ä Excellent understanding of IIS/.NET security structure and configuration files (web / setup)
Ä Excellent understanding of the DOM, JavaScript, CSS and DHTML (especially the extended capabilities of the Internet Explorer browser) as well as the XML Data Object Model.
Ä Excellent understanding of IIS / ASP, VBScripts, COM+, Web Client as well as Server Side coding environments (Microsoft Web Development environments).
Ä Familiarity with XML / XSL client data islands.
Ä Experience with designing solutions using SQL Server 2005/2008..
Ä Ability to understand database diagrams, knowledge of database concepts like indexes, keys etc.
Ä Ability to write and debug relatively complex T-SQL Scripts/ SQL Stored Procedures / SQL Functions.
Ä A minimum of 4 years of database experience with SQL Server 2000/2005, SQL Server Integration Services and Analysis Services.
Ä Must have experience with large databases / data warehouse in an online production environment.
Ä Exposure to SharePoint 2007 database is an asset.
Ä Experience with writing MOSS and ASP 2.0 WebParts is highly desirable.
Ä Ability to operate in a dynamic environment and manage his/her own priorities.
Ä Experience with Epicor9 or other Epicor products like for example Service Connect is asset.
· Other Development Tools / Languages:
Ä Sound knowledge of web development techniques like Ajax to create interactive, rich and fast Intranet / web applications. Knowledge of Ajax based programming practices to optimize and improve application performances over slower networks.
Ä Understanding and experience with XMLHttpRequest API to send HttpRequest and load server response directly in to scripting language (a skill set required with Ajax).
Ä Experience in designing Crystal Reports (preferably version XI or higher) embedded within applications as well ones hosted off the Business Objects Enterprise server is an asset.
Responsibilities:
Database design and maintenance
Ä Managing multiple SQL Server environments (Development/Staging/Production).
Ä Coordinating and applying modifications to the database with project management and development staff.
Ä Assist DBA with Reverse engineering 3rd party application databases for application integration.
Ä Occasionally performing ad hoc database backup and restores.
Data Warehouse Design and Maintenance
Ä Assist DBA in researching and defining Data Marts based on business requirements.
Ä Gathering, validating and scrubbing data using SQL Server Integration and Analysis Services to populate Data Marts.
Development
Ä Support existing Intranet and it’s business solutions which are primarily based on ASP and ASP.NET platforms.
Ä Ensuring that consistency is maintained between our Development, Staging and Production environments using source control methodologies while releasing solutions.
Ä Develop applications in adherence to our emerging development / design standards.
Ä Design Workflow Solutions using Service Connect (a proprietary Product designed and supported by Epicor) to perform data integrations between all our disparate systems and EPR application.
Ä Design Web Service and WCF classes for Service Connect integrations.
Ä Performing modifications or enhancements in coordination with project management and development staff.
Ä Maintain technical direction and design documents for each and every project assigned, with help from the technical manager.
Ä Developing Enterprise class Libraries and .NET Forms Applications: Depending on availability and scheduling, the candidate will also contribute to COM+, Class Libraries and Windows Forms based development tasks.

Ä Design new Intranet solutions – hosted on SharePoint 2007 and presented as Custom Web Parts, written using .NET technologies and occasionally using Google SDKs
Ä Design custom MOSS 2007 and ASP.NET 2.0 connected Web Parts independently.
