Building for People: 5 Practical Tips for Creating Great User Experience (UX)
If the 20th century is about technology functions, then the 21st century is about technology users. Building useful, usable, and attractive software applications for people is critical to win customers. User Experience (UX) is much more than just UI, it includes all key aspects of application such as performance and availability that you as developers concern. This session will start off with the ROI of great UX and why you should care. Then, 5 practical tips for creating great UX will be shared that you can take home and start improve your software UX right away.
Qixing joined Microsoft Canada as its first User Experience Developer Advisor, in which she talks to schools, IT communities and companies about Microsoft's investment in UX, finds design heroes and design stories from the community. More importantly, this role allows her to work with IT professionals to find great UX design solutions that can impact the technology we deliver today. She graduated from UBC at the end of 2005 with a Masters degree in Computer Science, specializing in Human-Computer Interaction.p>

Directions
- Subway - The closest subway station is the Bathurst-Bloor station. You can find our location within walking distance west on Bloor Street on the north side.
- Automobile - Please see Windows Live Maps for directions to the facility. Please take into consideration the downtown core rush hour when planning your trip. Parking is available across from the Palmerston Library Theatre.
- Bus - There are two bus routes that will drop you off within walking distance of our location . The 511 bus north and 7 south buses will drop you off at the Bathurst-Bloor station.
- Train - Any train that will arrive at Union Station will connect you to the Younge-University subway line. Take the University direction north to the Bathurst-Bloor station from Union Station.
